Utility commands

Lookups, translation, reminders and polls, without running a second bot.

Overview#

These are the small jobs that would otherwise mean a second bot in the server: looking somebody up, checking when an account was made, running a poll, shortening a link, or setting a reminder you will actually get.

None of them need setting up. They work the moment Iris joins, and like everything else they run from / or your server prefix.

Looking things up#

  • /userinfo [user] Account age, join date, roles and ids. The first thing to run on a suspicious account. Anyone
  • /serverinfo Member count, boost level, creation date and channel counts. Anyone
  • /avatar [user] Somebody's avatar at full size. Anyone
  • /invites [user] How many members somebody has invited. See invite tracking for the full picture. Anyone
  • /date The current date and time. Anyone
  • /roblox <username> Look up a Roblox profile. Anyone
  • /wikipedia <query> A Wikipedia summary without leaving Discord. Anyone
  • /github <repo> Stars, forks, language and last push for a GitHub repository. Give it as owner/repo, or just the repository name. Anyone
  • /covid [query] COVID-19 figures worldwide, or for a country or US state. Leave it empty for the world total. Anyone
  • /hantavirus Hantavirus (HPS) reference card: transmission, symptoms, prevention and US case history. Anyone

Tools#

  • /tinyurl <url> Shorten a long link. Anyone
  • /reminder <time> [message] Remind you later. Iris messages you when it is due. Anyone
  • /poll create <title> <option1> <option2> [option3] [option4] [option5] [duration] [channel] Start a poll. Two options are required and you may add up to five, with an optional duration such as 1h and a channel to post it in. Anyone
  • /poll end <poll> Close a poll and show the results. Anyone
  • /addemoji [emoji] [name] Add a custom emoji to the server, from an emoji in another server or a direct image URL. On the prefix path you can also reply to a message with .addemoji and leave the emoji out. Manage Emojis and Stickers
  • .translate <to_lang> <text> Translate text into another language. Anyone

Tips and gotchas#

How do I write a reminder time?

In plain shorthand, such as 30m, 2h or 1d, followed by what to remind you about.

Can I turn one of these off?

Yes. Individual commands are turned off per server in command management.

They have their own page. VoiceMaster is prefix only, under .vcmaster. See VoiceMaster.
