Overview#
Reddit notifications announce new posts from the subreddits you follow. Iris checks every 10 minutes and posts the title, the author and a link, attaching the image where the post has one.
Each subreddit has its own destination channel and its own optional ping role, so a busy general subreddit and a small one you actually care about do not have to land in the same place.
The design is written once for the platform and reused by every subreddit you add, unless you turn the shared design off for one of them.
Setup#
- Open the dashboard and go to Notifications > Reddit.
- Design the announcement under Announcement design and save it. This has to exist before a subreddit can be added.
- Press Add notification.
- Enter the Subreddit, the name as it appears after
reddit.com/r/. A full URL also works. - Pick the channel it Posts to.
- Under Advanced settings, set a Ping role if you want one.

Tips and gotchas#
The subreddit was not found.
Use the name on its own, without the r/. Check it is public.
How quickly does it post?
Within about 10 minutes of the post appearing.
Can I filter by flair or keyword?
Not from this page. Every new post in the subreddit is announced.
Nothing has posted at all.
Check the announcement design has been saved once, and that Iris can send and embed in the destination channel.
