Announce new posts from X accounts.

Configure X (Twitter) in the dashboard

Overview#

X notifications announce new posts from the accounts you follow. Iris checks every 15 minutes and posts the text with a link back to the original.

Each account has its own destination channel and its own optional ping role, so an announcements account and a personal one can go to different places.

The design is written once for the platform and reused by every account you add, unless you turn the shared design off for one of them.

Setup#

  1. Open the dashboard and go to Notifications > X (Twitter).
  2. Design the announcement under Announcement design and save it. This has to exist before an account can be added.
  3. Press Add notification.
  4. Enter the Username as it appears after x.com/. A full profile URL also works.
  5. Pick the channel it Posts to.
  6. Under Advanced settings, set a Ping role if you want one.

Tips and gotchas#

The account was not found.

Use the username exactly as it appears after x.com/, not the display name, and check the account is public.

How quickly does it post?

Within about 15 minutes.

Nothing has posted at all.

Check the announcement design has been saved once, and that Iris can send and embed in the destination channel.
