Announce new uploads and live streams from YouTube channels.

Overview#

YouTube notifications announce a new upload minutes after it goes public. Iris checks the channels you are watching every 10 minutes and posts the video where you told it to, with the thumbnail attached.

Watch as many channels as you like. Each one has its own destination channel and its own optional ping role, so your own uploads and a partner channel do not have to share a feed.

The announcement is designed once per platform and reused by every channel you add. Turn the shared design off for one creator and that creator gets an embed of its own.

Setup#

  1. Open the dashboard and go to Notifications > YouTube.
  2. Design the announcement under Announcement design and save it. This has to exist before a channel can be added.
  3. Press Add notification.
  4. Enter the Channel name, the handle from the channel URL after youtube.com/@. A full URL or a channel id also works.
  5. Pick the channel it Posts to.
  6. Under Advanced settings, set a Ping role and pick which video types to announce.

Tips and gotchas#

The channel was not found.

Use the handle exactly as it appears after youtube.com/@, with no spaces. A full channel URL or the channel id works too.

How quickly does it post?

Within about 10 minutes of the video going public, which is how often Iris checks.

Can two channels post to the same place?

Yes. Each entry has its own destination, and several can share one.

Nothing has posted at all.

Check the announcement design has been saved once, and that Iris can send and embed in the destination channel.
