Overview#

Embed Messages is the designer for the standing messages in your server: the rules, the information post, the partner list. Build one on the dashboard with a live preview beside it, then post it as Iris.

A message is a stack of blocks. Add several embeds and a plain text block, reorder them, and they post as one message. Reactions can be added to the last message posted, which is what makes a rules post double as an agreement.

A posted message stays editable. Change the design, save, and Iris edits the message in place rather than posting a second copy.

Setup#

  1. Open the dashboard and go to Server > Embed Messages.
  2. Press New message and give it a Name you will recognise later.
  3. Pick the Channel it posts to.
  4. Add embed and text blocks, and edit each one in the inspector on the right.
  5. Add any Reactions you want on the message.
  6. Save, then post it.

Commands#

Embed Messages is dashboard only. There is no chat equivalent, because the point of it is the live preview.

Tips and gotchas#

Editing did not update the message.

Iris has to be able to find the original, so it needs Read Message History in that channel and the message must not have been deleted.

Can members react to get a role from it?

Not from here. That is self roles, which pairs reactions with roles.

Can I post the same design twice?

Change the channel and post again. Each design tracks the messages it has posted.

Why is my embed refused?

It is over a Discord embed limit. The designer shows the limits as you type, and Iris checks them again on post.
