Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the operator of Iris ("we", "us", "the operator"). They cover the Iris Discord bot ("the Bot"), the Iris website, dashboard, documentation, verification pages and vote page ("the Website"), and every command, API and feature we provide (together, "the Service").

By adding the Bot to a Discord server, by using any of its commands or features, by being a member of a server where it is present and interacting with it, or by using the Website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of them, stop using the Service and remove the Bot from your server.

These documents form part of these Terms: our Privacy Policy, our Refund and Cancellation Policy, our Advertising Terms if you buy a sponsored placement, and any rules published in the official support server.

2. Eligibility

You must meet the minimum age required to use Discord in your country (13, or higher where local law requires it). By using the Service you confirm that you meet it, that you can accept these Terms for yourself and for any server you add the Bot to, and that your use of Discord follows Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

You may not use the Service if we have banned you, banned a server you run, or otherwise ended your access.

3. What Iris provides

Iris is a server management and community bot for Discord. It currently includes:

• Protection - moderation commands and case history, auto-moderation, anti-raid, anti-link, honeypot trap channels, and member verification, including web verification with alt-account and VPN detection.
• Server tools - logging, tickets with transcripts, application forms, welcome and leave messages with image cards, autoroles, self-roles and reaction roles, custom commands, autoresponders, embed messages, auto reactions, scheduled channel purges, temporary voice channels (VoiceMaster), invite tracking and a per-server bot nickname and avatar.
• Community - levels and XP with role rewards, a server economy with its own currency and games, giveaways, polls, suggestions, starboard, quote cards, a counting game, events, reminders, AFK status and boost tracking.
• Notifications - alerts for YouTube, Twitch, Kick, TikTok, Reddit and X (Twitter).
• Utility and entertainment - information, translation, lookup and fun commands, some of which fetch results from third-party services.
• The Website - a web dashboard for configuring all of the above, online ticket transcripts, documentation, a status page, a vote page, and scheduled backups of the Service's data.

Features are added, changed, renamed, limited and removed over time. Nothing in these Terms, on the Website or in any announcement is a promise that a particular feature will exist, keep working, stay free or behave the same way in future.

4. Server owners and administrators

If you add the Bot to a server, or configure it through the dashboard or commands, you are responsible for how it is used there. In particular you agree that:

• You have the server owner's permission to add and configure the Bot.
• You will configure it lawfully, including logging, transcripts, verification, levels and any other feature that records information about members, and you will tell your members what you have enabled where the law requires it.
• You decide which features run in your server and what your members post. We provide the tools; we do not moderate your community for you.
• You will only give Administrator permission, staff roles or transcript access to people you trust. Anyone with Administrator permission in your server can open its dashboard.
• You will not use the Service to run a server whose purpose breaks Discord's rules or the law, including servers dedicated to harassment, hate, sexual content involving minors, malware, fraud, gambling for real money, or the sale of stolen or illegal goods, accounts or services.

Where a server's use of the Service breaks these Terms, we may act against the server, the people who configured it, or both.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to, and not to help anyone else to:

• Use the Service in a way that breaks Discord's Terms of Service, Community Guidelines or Developer Terms, or any applicable law.
• Use the Service to harass, threaten, defame, stalk, dox, impersonate, spam, scam or otherwise harm anyone.
• Use the Service to spread malware, phishing links or invite-farming links, or content that infringes someone else's rights. This includes content you put into custom commands, autoresponders, embeds, welcome cards, quote cards, forms and shortened links.
• Try to get unauthorised access to the Bot, the Website, our servers, our databases, another server's configuration or transcripts, another user's dashboard session, or any data you are not entitled to see.
• Probe, scan, penetration-test, brute-force, fuzz or otherwise attack the Service or the infrastructure it runs on without our prior written permission.
• Interfere with the Service or degrade it for others, including by flooding it, sending denial-of-service traffic, deliberately triggering errors, or driving the Bot into Discord's rate limits.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, mirror, republish, resell, sublicense, white-label or rent the Bot or the Website, or present the Service as your own.
• Copy the Website's content, design, documentation, command list or branding for a competing product.
• Use self-bots, macros, headless browsers or unofficial scripts to interact with the Bot or the Website, other than through interfaces we publish for that purpose.
• Use the Service for bulk data collection about Discord users, to build profiles of people, or to train machine-learning models.
• Remove, obscure, block, spoof or interfere with any notice, label, attribution or sponsored content the Service displays.
• Pretend to be Iris staff, or claim an association with us that does not exist.

6. Exploits, alts and abuse

This section is a hard rule and is enforced strictly. You must not exploit the Service or get any advantage from it that you were not meant to have.

Specifically, you agree not to:

• Exploit bugs or unintended behaviour. If a bug, glitch, race condition, misconfiguration or oversight gives you access to a feature, a limit, currency, XP, a reward, a paid entitlement or data you should not have, stop using it immediately and report it to us. Continuing to use it, using it repeatedly, or telling others how to use it is a breach of these Terms.
• Use alternate accounts for an advantage. You must not create, control, buy, borrow or coordinate extra Discord accounts (alts), sockpuppets, bot accounts or extra servers to gain any advantage. That includes multiplying rewards, currency, XP, votes, entries, counts, limits, trials, referrals, invite codes, credits, free periods or paid features; inflating giveaway odds, invite counts, starboard counts, activity statistics, poll results, suggestion votes or leaderboard positions; and appearing to be several different people to us, to our staff, or to a server's staff.
• Evade verification or alt detection. You must not use VPNs, proxies, residential proxy services, anti-fingerprinting tools, private windows, cleared cookies, other people's devices or any other method in order to defeat the Bot's verification or alt detection, or to hide a link between accounts you control.
• Evade bans, mutes or restrictions. You must not come back to the Service through another account, server, device or network after we, or a server acting at our direction, have restricted you. Ban evasion is treated as a new and more serious breach, and every account or server we associate with it may be banned too.
• Abuse voting and rewards. You must not vote-farm, or use multiple accounts, scripts, emulators or paid services to inflate votes on bot lists or on our vote page, or otherwise manufacture rewards, streaks, cooldown resets or recognition tied to voting.
• Abuse promotions and paid features. You must not obtain, extend, resell or share paid plans, trials, invite or promotional codes, founder perks or partner perks other than as intended; use codes not issued to you; cycle servers, accounts or payment methods to repeat a trial or discount; or unlock premium or restricted features without paying, including by tampering with requests, entitlement checks, tokens, cookies or client-side code.
• Abuse payments. You must not use stolen or unauthorised payment methods, or file chargebacks or payment disputes in bad faith. See section 10.
• Interfere with sponsored content. You must not generate false impressions or clicks on sponsored boxes, script interactions with them, or manipulate the counts we bill advertisers against.
• Get around limits. You must not bypass, or try to bypass, rate limits, cooldowns, quotas, permission checks, blocklists, command restrictions, maintenance mode or any other access control.

Consequences. Where we believe, in our sole judgement, that any of the above has happened, we may act without notice: reverse or void any advantage, currency, XP, reward, entitlement, count or record obtained; cancel a plan or entitlement without refund; block the accounts, servers, sessions, devices or networks involved; and ban any or all of them permanently under section 12. We may treat every account we reasonably associate with an abuser as belonging to that abuser.

Reporting. If you find a bug, exploit or security vulnerability, report it to us privately through the support server, /bugreport, or email. Good-faith reports made promptly, without exploiting the issue further and without accessing or keeping other people's data, will not be penalised. Publishing an issue before we have had a reasonable chance to fix it is not good faith.

7. Economy, XP and virtual rewards

Iris can run a server economy (a currency with balances, rewards, payments between members and games), levels and XP, invite counts, vote streaks and similar in-server rewards. For all of them:

• No real-world value. Currency, XP, levels, items and rewards are virtual, exist only inside the server that awarded them, and are not money, property or a payment instrument. They cannot be bought from us, and cannot be redeemed, cashed out or refunded.
• No trading for real value. You must not buy, sell or trade them, or accounts holding them, for real money, cryptocurrency, gift cards, Discord Nitro or anything else of real-world value, and servers must not offer them in exchange for such things.
• Games are for entertainment. Economy games use virtual currency only. They are not gambling, and they must not be used as, or linked to, gambling for real value.
• The server controls them. A server's administrators can give, take, reset and configure balances, XP and rewards in their server as they see fit. That is between you and that server.
• They can change or be lost. We may adjust, reset or remove currency, XP and rewards, including to fix a bug, reverse abuse, or rebalance the system. They are also deleted with the rest of a server's data when the Bot leaves that server (see the Privacy Policy). We owe no compensation for any of this.

8. Early access and invite codes

While Iris is in early access, it may only work in servers that have been let in, and access may be granted through invite or referral codes, a waitlist, or by us directly. Invite codes, referral rewards and founder perks:

• Are personal to the account they were issued to, unless we say a code is shareable.
• Have no cash value and cannot be sold, bought or exchanged.
• May be limited in number, may expire, and may be revoked by us, including where they were obtained through abuse under section 6.
• Are honoured as described when they were given, but do not guarantee that a feature, price or plan will stay the same.

Early-access features may be unfinished, may change quickly and may be withdrawn. Joining the waitlist adds your account to our support server so the Bot can message you when your access is ready.

9. Verification and sponsored content

Where a server turns on web verification, completing it means opening a page on our Website that checks your browser for signs of an alternate account and, if the server chooses, for a VPN or proxy. We store a one-way hash of your IP address, a browser fingerprint hash and a cookie identifier, never the address itself; the Privacy Policy has the details. A detection is a signal for the server's staff, not a statement of fact about you, and what to do about it is that server's decision.

The verification page may show clearly labelled sponsored boxes, sold and served by us directly, with no advertising network or third-party tracking involved. You must not interfere with, obscure, falsify traffic to, or automate interaction with them. Servers on a paid plan do not show sponsored content to their members.

If you buy one of those boxes, the Advertising Terms apply to that booking as well as these Terms. They cover who may buy, what may and may not run, creative and destination rules, and how approval, measurement and takedown work. Every creative is reviewed by a person before it runs, and approval is at our discretion.

10. Paid plans and billing

Iris is free to use, and every module is available on the free plan. Paid plans raise limits and retention windows for one Discord server. If you buy one, the following applies as well as everything else in these Terms.

Cancellation and refunds are set out in full in our Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Read it before you buy. The summary below does not replace it, and where the two differ, that policy governs.

• Payments - checkout and card processing are handled by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number.
• Subscriptions - paid plans are monthly subscriptions, priced in pounds sterling (GBP), attached to a specific Discord server rather than to your account. They renew automatically until cancelled.
• Cancelling - you can cancel at any time from the dashboard, with no fee and no minimum term. The plan then runs to the end of the period you have paid for and stops. Removing the Bot from a server does not cancel its subscription.
• Right to cancel - on a first purchase for a server you can cancel within 14 days for a full refund, as described in the Refund and Cancellation Policy. By starting a plan at checkout you ask us to begin supplying it straight away.
• Refunds - outside that period, payments for a billing period already begun are not normally refundable. We do not refund for downtime, feature changes, a server going quiet, or an account or server being banned or restricted under these Terms. Nothing here limits any statutory right you have.
• Prices and features - prices, plan contents and limits may change. A change that affects an active subscription takes effect at the next renewal, never mid-period.
• Upgrades and downgrades - an upgrade applies immediately and is prorated; a downgrade applies at the next renewal, and the difference for the rest of the current period is not refunded.
• Failed payments - if a renewal still fails after Stripe's retries, the subscription lapses and the server returns to the free plan. No debt is created.
• Chargebacks - filing a chargeback or payment dispute instead of contacting us may lead to the immediate loss of the plan and a permanent ban of the account and the server it was bought for. Contact us first; we would rather sort it out.
• What you are buying - a paid plan buys access to software features for a period. It does not buy ownership of anything, immunity from these Terms or from enforcement, guaranteed uptime, or a right to any feature continuing to exist. It does not buy economy currency, XP or any other virtual reward.
• Termination - if we end your access for a breach of these Terms, any paid plan ends with it and no refund is due.
• Advertising - sponsored placements bought from us follow section 11 of the Refund and Cancellation Policy, not the subscription rules above.

11. Your data

What we collect, why, how long we keep it and how to have it deleted is set out in full in our Privacy Policy. In short, the Bot stores Discord user, server, channel, role and message identifiers, each server's configuration, and the records its enabled features produce, such as moderation cases, ticket transcripts, message logs where logging is on, levels and economy balances, giveaway entries, verification records and invite counts. Most records expire automatically, and a server's data is deleted 30 days after the Bot leaves it.

Records we keep for enforcement, security, fraud prevention and abuse detection, including records of bans, ban evasion and exploitation, may be kept after a deletion request where we have a legitimate interest in keeping them.

12. Enforcement, suspension and bans

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, at any time, for any reason or for no reason.

The operator and the bot administrators we designate may, at their sole discretion, with or without notice, with or without giving a reason, and without any duty to investigate, explain or justify the decision:

• Ban or restrict any user from the Bot and the Website entirely, across every server, including in direct messages.
• Ban or blocklist any Discord server, so the Bot refuses to join it or leaves it immediately, whoever invited it and whoever owns it.
• Remove the Bot from a server, disable it there, or disable specific commands, modules or features for a user, a server, a group of servers or everyone.
• Suspend, downgrade, cancel or void any paid plan, entitlement, code, reward, vote credit, trial or perk, without refund.
• Reset, void or delete data, records, currency, XP, counts, statistics, leaderboard positions or configuration obtained through, or affected by, a breach of these Terms.
• Put the Service, or any part of it, into maintenance mode or restricted availability.
• Decline to provide support, or remove someone from the support server.

Common reasons include breaches of these Terms or of Discord's rules, exploitation or alt abuse under section 6, abuse of our staff, chargebacks and payment fraud, legal or safety risk, and requests from Discord or law enforcement. That list is only an example. Our discretion is not limited to it, and no reason is required for us to act.

Enforcement may reach beyond the account that broke the rules. Where we reasonably believe accounts, servers, devices or networks are linked to a banned person or a coordinated abuse operation, we may ban all of them, and the accounts of anyone who helps, directs, funds or knowingly benefits from the abuse.

Bans are permanent unless we decide otherwise. You can appeal through the support server or by email and we will consider appeals in good faith, but we have no obligation to review, answer, reverse or explain any enforcement decision, and our decision is final. Trying to evade an enforcement decision is itself a breach of these Terms.

Nothing in this section obliges us to act. We do not monitor every server, and choosing not to act in one case does not waive our right to act in any other.

13. Stopping use of Iris

You can stop using the Service at any time by removing the Bot from your server, logging out of the dashboard and no longer using it. Removing the Bot stops further collection for that server straight away; the server's stored data is then deleted automatically 30 days later, or sooner if you ask us (see the Privacy Policy). Cancelling a paid plan does not delete a server's data, and removing the Bot does not cancel a paid plan.

14. Service availability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", with no guarantee of uptime, availability, accuracy or fitness for any particular purpose. We may change, suspend, limit or discontinue the Service or any feature at any time, with or without notice. Maintenance, updates, Discord outages, changes by third-party platforms, rate limits and hosting failures may interrupt the Service or cause data to be delayed or lost.

Automated features (auto-moderation, anti-raid, honeypots, verification, alt and VPN detection, backups and notifications) are best-effort tools that produce false positives and false negatives. They do not replace human moderation, and you must not rely on them as your only safeguard. Backups are a convenience, not a guarantee: keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.

15. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that any defect will be fixed. Nothing in these Terms excludes a right you have that cannot lawfully be excluded, including statutory consumer rights.

16. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, members, server content, virtual currency or rewards, arising out of or connected with your use of, or inability to use, the Service. This includes losses caused by misconfiguration, moderation actions taken by the Bot or by a server's staff, false positives or negatives from automated features, unauthorised access to a server through compromised staff accounts, data loss, downtime, or the acts of third parties.

Our total liability arising out of or connected with the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or £20.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

17. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator, our staff and our administrators from any claim, demand, loss, liability or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your server's use of the Service, your content or configuration, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement of anyone else's rights.

18. Intellectual property and your content

The Bot, the Website, their source code, design, documentation, name and branding belong to the operator and are protected by copyright. These Terms give you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use the Service as it is provided, and nothing more. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

Content you provide (server configuration, custom messages, embeds, custom commands, form questions, images you upload or link, text you submit through commands) stays yours. You give us the licence we need to store, process, transmit and display it to run the Service, and you confirm you have the right to use it. You are responsible for it, including where the Bot posts it on your behalf.

If you believe content served through the Service infringes your rights, contact us and we will investigate and remove infringing material where appropriate.

19. Third-party services

The Service depends on Discord and works with other platforms and services, for example YouTube, Twitch, Kick, TikTok, Reddit, X (Twitter), GitHub, Google Translate, Wikipedia, Roblox, bot lists and our payment provider Stripe. We do not control them and are not responsible for them or for the content they return, and their own terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them. If a third party changes or restricts its service, the related Iris feature may change, break or be removed without notice.

Your relationship with Discord is governed by Discord's own terms. Nothing here overrides them, and Discord is not a party to these Terms. Iris is not affiliated with or endorsed by Discord.

20. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and we will make a reasonable effort to announce material changes in the support server. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the new Terms. If you do not, stop using the Service and remove the Bot.

21. General

• Severability - if any provision is found unenforceable, it is limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the rest stays in force.
• No waiver - if we do not enforce a provision, we have not waived it and may enforce it later.
• Assignment - you may not transfer these Terms or your access to the Service. We may, for example if the Service changes hands.
• Entire agreement - these Terms and the documents listed in section 1 are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service, and replace any earlier version.
• Survival - the sections on abuse, virtual rewards, enforcement, data, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and intellectual property survive termination.
• No partnership - these Terms do not create an employment, agency, partnership or joint-venture relationship, and using the Service does not make you Iris staff.
• Governing law - these Terms are governed by the law of the operator's country of residence, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and its courts have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings where you live.
