Advertising Terms

Last updated: September 13, 2026

1. Scope

These terms cover buying a sponsorship placement on the Iris website ("we", "us"). They apply to everyone who submits a booking, whether through the booking form or by arrangement with us directly, and they form part of our Terms of Service. Read them with the Privacy Policy and the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

In short: placements are sold directly by us, one buyer at a time, for a fixed run of dates. Every creative is reviewed by a person before it runs, we decide what runs, and nothing is charged for a booking we turn down.

2. Who May Buy

You must be at least 18 years old and signed in with a Discord account in good standing. If you are booking for a company or on behalf of someone else, you confirm that you are authorised to enter into these terms for them, and "you" means both of you.

We will not sell to an account that is banned from the Service or the support server, and we may refuse or cancel a booking from anyone attempting to get around such a ban.

3. What You Are Buying

A booking reserves one named placement on our verification and vote pages for a fixed run of whole days, starting and ending at midnight UTC on the dates shown when you book. The price is the one on the rate card at the moment you submit, in pounds sterling (GBP), paid once through our payment provider, Stripe. There is no subscription and nothing renews.

You are buying a placement for a period. You are not buying a guaranteed number of impressions or clicks, a guaranteed share of traffic, exclusivity beyond the placement itself, any right to a placement continuing to exist in future, or any interest in the Service. Servers on a paid plan do not show sponsored content to their members, so your placement never reaches those pages.

4. Approval

Submitting a booking is a request, not a purchase. We review the actual artwork and the destination link by hand and either accept or decline. If we decline, nothing is charged and the dates are released.

Approval is at our sole discretion and our decision is final. We do not have to give a reason, though we normally will. Approving one creative does not oblige us to approve another, and a creative that ran before may still be declined later.

An accepted booking is held for you for 48 hours. If it is not paid for within that window, it expires and the dates go back on sale.

5. What May Not Run

We will not run a creative, or send a click to a destination, that promotes, facilitates or depicts any of the following. This list is not exhaustive, and the spirit of it applies as much as the letter.

  • Anything illegal - goods, services or conduct that are unlawful where the viewer is, or that would make us a party to something unlawful.
  • Drugs, weapons, tobacco and vapes - including legal-high and research-chemical vendors, firearms, ammunition and their parts.
  • Adult and sexual content - pornography, escort or sexual services, adult dating, and sexually suggestive artwork of any kind. These pages are shown to members joining ordinary Discord servers.
  • Gambling and gambling-adjacent products - casinos, sportsbooks, loot-box and case-opening sites, skin gambling, and "free coins" promotions, licensed or not.
  • Financial risk dressed up as opportunity - cryptocurrency, tokens, NFTs, trading signals, forex or binary options, investment tips, matrix and referral schemes, and any get-rich-quick offer.
  • Malware and account abuse - executables, browser extensions, cheats, exploits, self-bots, token loggers, nitro or currency generators, and anyone selling, buying or trading accounts.
  • Services that break another platform's rules - view, follower, vote or member selling, and anything whose use would breach Discord's Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.
  • Hate, harassment and violence - content attacking or demeaning people by race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation, and content that harasses, threatens or targets a specific person.
  • Political and religious campaigning - candidates, parties, referendums, ballot measures, political causes, and religious conversion. This is not a judgement about any of them; it is not the right page for them.
  • Anything aimed at children - creative directed at under-13s, or products whose audience is primarily children.
  • Medical and health claims - miracle cures, unlicensed pharmaceuticals, supplements promising specific outcomes, and anything presenting itself as medical advice.
  • Impersonation - creative that imitates Iris, Discord, a payment provider, an operating system, or any brand you do not own or represent.

We may also decline anything that is simply not right for the page, including a competitor whose creative would confuse a member part-way through verifying their account.

6. Creative Rules

A creative is one still image at the exact pixel size listed for the placement, or a whole multiple of it, as a PNG, JPEG or WebP of 512KB or less. We re-encode every upload before it is stored.

  • No motion or sound - animated images are rejected automatically, and there is no video or audio inventory.
  • No deceptive interface - nothing that imitates a system dialog, a download button, a play button, a cursor, a form field, a close button, an error message or a login prompt.
  • Legible and honest - readable at the size shown, and an accurate description of what is on the other side of the click.
  • Alt text - you provide a short honest description of the image, which is read out to anyone using a screen reader. It must describe the creative, not carry extra advertising.
  • No tracking - the image is served from our own origin. We do not accept tags, pixels, scripts, iframes or third-party-hosted creative, and there is no arrangement under which we would.

7. Destination Links

A click goes through a counting redirect on our own domain and then to the destination you gave us. That destination must be a normal http or https web page, must match what the creative advertises, and must remain the same for the run.

  • No redirect chains, cloaking, or serving a different page to our visitors than to us.
  • No automatic downloads, forced installs, or pages that trigger a file transfer on load.
  • No pages that request credentials or payment details under a false identity.
  • No malware, phishing, or content that would breach section 5 once the visitor arrives.

If a destination changes during a run into something we would not have approved, we may pull the creative immediately under section 10.

8. Measurement

Impressions and clicks are counted by us, per creative, and our figures are the ones the booking is settled on. An impression is counted when the box has been continuously visible in the viewer's browser for one second, so a page scrolled straight past is not counted against you. Counting is best effort: blocked or failed measurement undercounts, which is the direction that favours you.

Nothing is counted per person. We do not build a profile of anyone who sees or clicks a creative, we do not pass any information about them to you, and no third party is involved in the measurement. Your delivery figures are available on your own booking page for the life of the booking.

9. Your Warranties and Indemnity

You confirm that you own or are licensed to use everything in the creative, including images, fonts, trade marks and any depiction of a person; that the creative and the destination comply with all applicable law and advertising codes; and that everything you have told us about the advertiser and the product is accurate.

You will indemnify us against any claim, loss, damage, cost or expense arising from your creative, your destination, your product or service, or your breach of these terms. This survives the end of your booking.

10. Suspension and Takedown

We may pause or remove a live creative at any time, without notice, if it breaches these terms, if the destination changes, if we receive a credible complaint about it, if a platform or authority requires it, or if we reasonably believe continuing to run it would harm the Service or the people who see it.

Where we pull a creative for a reason that is not your fault, you get a pro rata credit or refund for the unrun days. Where we pull it because you broke these terms, no refund is due and we may decline future bookings from you. See section 11 of the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

11. Payment, Cancellation and Refunds

Payment is taken once, after approval, through Stripe. We never see or store your card details. A booking you withdraw before it is decided costs nothing, and a booking we decline costs nothing.

Once a run has been paid for and started, it is not refundable except as set out in section 10. Everything about cancelling, the statutory 14 day right to cancel, failed payments and chargebacks is in the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

12. Your Data

A booking stores your Discord account id and username, the advertiser name and any contact email you give us, your creative and destination, and a reference to the Stripe payment. We keep it for as long as we need it for accounting and dispute purposes. See the Privacy Policy.

13. Changes

We may change these terms. A live booking runs out under the terms that were in force when it was accepted; a new booking is subject to the version published when you submit it. The date at the top of this page is when it last changed.

14. General

  • No agency - buying a placement does not make you a partner, agent or representative of Iris, and you may not present yourself as one.
  • No resale - a placement is sold to you for your own advertising. You may not resell, sublicense or transfer it, or use it to broker inventory for a third party without our written agreement.
  • Liability - our total liability for anything to do with a booking is limited to what you paid for that booking. The disclaimers and limitations in sections 13 and 14 of the Terms of Service apply.
  • Governing law - as section 19 of the Terms of Service.

15. Contact

For anything about a booking, a creative, or a placement not listed on the site, email yourbotdev.daniel@gmail.com or contact us in the Bot's support server on Discord.
