Core commands

Overview#

The commands that are always there. /help is the one to remember: it opens a menu you page through by category, listing every command your server has with what it does and the permission it needs.

/help is one of six commands that can never be turned off in command management, alongside /command, /ignorechannel, /prefix, /bugreport and /suggest. Between them a server can always reach the basics, undo its own configuration, and reach the Iris developers. Everything else on this page can be disabled like any other command.

Commands#

• /help Open the help browser: every command your server has, by category, with the permission each one needs. Anyone
• /uptime How long Iris has been running since its last restart. Anyone
• /alerts The latest service notice from the Iris team, if there is one. Anyone
• /afk [reason] Mark yourself away. Run it again to come back. Anyone
• /vote Every place Iris can be voted for, when you may vote again, and a switch for the reminder DM. Anyone
• /suggest <suggestion> [attachment] Send a suggestion about Iris to the developer, with an optional screenshot. Anyone
• /bugreport <description> [steps] [screenshot] Report a bug in Iris to the developer. Not for problems with your own server. Anyone

Going AFK#

Set an AFK status and Iris answers on your behalf. Anyone who mentions you, or replies to one of your messages, gets a short note saying you are away and why. Your next message in the server clears the status and Iris welcomes you back once, rather than on every message.

The status is per server, so being away in one place does not mark you away everywhere. Running /afk a second time clears it by hand, and the reason is optional.

Voting#

/vote lists every bot list Iris is on, tells you which of them you can vote on right now, and counts down the ones you cannot. The cooldown is 12 hours per list, so a vote on each is a vote on each.

A button on the reply turns a reminder DM on or off. With it on, Iris messages you once a cooldown expires rather than leaving you to remember. Votes are recorded by the bot lists themselves, so they still land while Iris is restarting.

Shortcuts#

A shortcut is your own alias for a prefix command: .ar instead of .autoreact. Shortcuts belong to you rather than to a server, so they work everywhere Iris is, and they only apply on the prefix path, since Discord resolves slash commands itself.

• /shortcut remove <alias> Delete one. Anyone
• /shortcut clear Delete all of them. Anyone

Language#

• /language set <language> Set the language Iris replies in for the whole server, across 21 languages. Manage Server
• /language list Every language Iris speaks. Anyone
• /language personal set <language> Set your own language, which overrides the server setting for you alone. Anyone
