Giveaways

Run, manage, and track server giveaways.

Configure Giveaways in the dashboard

Overview#

Giveaways runs a draw from start to finish. You set the prize, the length and the number of winners, members enter with a button, and Iris picks the winners itself when the timer ends.

A draw that went wrong is recoverable. Reroll picks fresh winners, cancel stops one that should not have started, and every finished draw stays on the dashboard with its entries and its outcome.

The settings on this page are the rails: the shortest and longest a giveaway may run, how many winners are allowed, which channels a draw may be created in, and the role somebody needs to enter. Staff create draws inside those bounds without being able to fat-finger a month-long giveaway with 500 winners.

Setup#

  1. Open the dashboard and go to Engagement > Giveaways, then turn the module on.
  2. Set the duration and winner bounds under Limits.
  3. Pick a Log channel so draws and winners are recorded.
  4. Set a Required role to enter if entry should not be open to everyone.
  5. Restrict Allowed channels if draws belong in one place, then save.
  6. Create a draw from the Active giveaways tab, or with /giveaway create.

Tips and gotchas#

Nobody can enter.

A Required role to enter is set and most members do not hold it, or the draw was posted in a channel members cannot see.

The winner never replied.

Run /giveaway reroll <message_id> to draw again. The original result stays on the dashboard.

Can I run several at once?

Yes. /giveaway list shows everything running, and each is ended or rerolled by its own message id.

Where do I find the message id?

Turn on Developer Mode in Discord, then right click the giveaway message and copy its id. /giveaway list shows it too.

Where is the history of past draws?

On the dashboard, filtered by active, ended or cancelled, alongside the volume and entry charts.
